The most common reason for a previously working floppy disk drive to suddenly stop reading disks is “dirty heads” from magnetic material sloughing off of failing diskettes onto the read/write heads. A cleaning disk (which you can easily make yourself) is the quickest and most reliable way to fix this problem.
