While restoring an IBM 5170 AT, the old brittle plastic power switch bezel screw posts broke as I was removing it, so I carefully measured and recreated it in FreeCAD. I’ve kept the body solid instead of hollowed out like the original for additional strength as well as adding braces on three sides of each screw post to help reduce splitting.
In the photos, I’m comparing the resin printed model to a similar DTK Data 1000 power switch bezel. On a 5170 you’ll want to reuse the original spacers or make your own so it’s flush with the case.
This model can be printed with any type of printer or material of your choice, but I had an Elegoo resin printer handy, so that’s what the one in the photos came from.
The engraved lettering and symbols can be filled with white paint or resin to more closely resemble the original bezel.
The STL model file can be found on Thingiverse if you’d like to print one yourself.
